As such, it is subject to strict regulations concerning noise pollution, particularly in the <strong>Zones \u00e0 \u00c9mergence R\u00e9glement\u00e9e (ZER)<\/strong> located close to residential areas.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An <a href=\"https:\/\/axilab.fr\/en\/design-sizing\/\">acoustic measurement<\/a> campaign revealed that noise emissions from the two atmospheric discharge stacks were the main sources of noise perceived by local residents, particularly at night. <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The levels measured exceeded the <strong>regulatory thresholds<\/strong> defined by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legifrance.gouv.fr\/loda\/id\/JORFTEXT000000748064\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the<strong>decree of January 23, 1997<\/strong><\/a>. Corrective action was therefore essential to <strong>comply with legal requirements and limit the impact on the neighborhood.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_3-1024x576.png\" alt=\"Acoustic measurements\" class=\"wp-image-3085\" srcset=\"https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_3-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_3-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_3-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_3-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_3.png 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-orange-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ad3f2b9fb6e4b06e2f4c71df52cfcc97\">Customized diagnostics and technical approach<\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Identification of emission spectra<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A new campaign of in situ acoustic measurements enabled us to characterize the emission spectra specific to each stack. This step enabled us to target the frequency bands that contribute most to ambient noise, and served as the basis for sizing <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/axilab.fr\/en\/solutions-and-products\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/axilab.fr\/solutions-et-produits\/\">acoustic silencers<\/a><\/strong>.   <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sizing insertion silencers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based on these results, <a href=\"https:\/\/axilab.fr\/en\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/axilab.fr\/en\/\">AXILAB<\/a> designed insertion silencers to meet the technical constraints of the site: high effluent temperature, permissible pressure drop and mechanical integration into the industrial environment.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The main objective was to achieve targeted spectral attenuation, while guaranteeing the durability of the equipment and the absence of impact on the industrial process.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AXILAB was able to count on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cl2r.fr\/fr\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.cl2r.fr\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CL2R<\/a> teams to carry out all the integration work on the incinerator exhaust lines:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Opening the front of the building to create a hoistway<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Removal of thermal insulation from existing ducts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Securing and recharging existing ducts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cutting and removing duct sections<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installation and welding of counter-flanges<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lifting and installing silencers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reassembling the building&#8217;s fa\u00e7ade<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_2-1024x576.png\" alt=\"Acoustic device inserted in a chimney to attenuate the noise generated by gas flows.\" class=\"wp-image-3083\" srcset=\"https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_2-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_2-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_2-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_2-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_2.png 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-orange-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a43efc1766142fcdc9fb2e8b28450314\">Results: targeted and effective mitigation thanks to joint expertise<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The silencers installed are of the reactive dissipative type, offering precise spectral attenuation in the frequency bands that contribute most to ambient noise. They provide an acoustic gain of :   <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Line 1 &#8211; North<\/strong>: acoustic gain of <strong>7 dB(A)<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Line 2 &#8211; South<\/strong>: noise reduction of <strong>15 dB(A)<\/strong> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After installation by CL2R, an acoustic acceptance measurement campaign was carried out in accordance with the reference standards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boutique.afnor.org\/fr-fr\/norme\/nf-s31010\/acoustique-caracterisation-et-mesurage-des-bruits-de-lenvironnement-methode\/fa043150\/296\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>NF S 31-010<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iso.org\/standard\/59765.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>ISO 1996-2<\/strong><\/a>. It confirmed that noise levels complied with regulatory objectives.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-orange-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-02ccaf1139b5e1f7ecf71258bfdecb0d\">An approach in line with Directive 2002\/49\/EC<\/h2>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_1-1024x576.png\" alt=\"Acoustic measurements\" class=\"wp-image-3081\" srcset=\"https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_1-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_1-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_1-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_1-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/axilab.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/VEOLIA_BRIEC_1.png 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This intervention is fully in line with the requirements of the <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/FR\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX%3A32002L0049\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>directive 2002\/49\/EC<\/strong><\/a> relating to the assessment and management of environmental noise.
